Honoring Birth, Embracing Motherhood

What is a Doula?

The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth.

Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.

I believe that each birth is beautiful and sacred. It is my hope to encourage, support and educate families as they transition into parenthood. Becoming a mother is a beautiful rite of passage that I hope to assist in. My primary goal for you is to have a positive experience during pregnancy, labor and delivery where you feel confident, informed, and surrounded by love, care and respect.

Background

I am passionate about supporting women through the rite of passage to motherhood.
My passion for birth started with the pregnancy of my oldest son. Being interested in a natural birth led me to research and learn as much as I could about the labor process and what our bodies are capable of doing. Having a doula at my birth helped me to feel supported, loved and cared for through the entire process. My hope is to inform, listen, care for, and assist women in having the best birth for them during pregancy and through the postpartum stage.
